Chuppa

Chuppah, Huppah, Chipe, Chupah, or Chuppa.

Urban Earth Design Studios has as many types as there are ways to spell it.

The Traditional Chuppa or Bridal Canopy is the most symbolic and important element in the Jewish Wedding Ceremony. A symbol of God’s Love above and the couple’s new home they will share. Dating back to the 1300’s the Chuppa also serves to remind us Abraham’s tent that was open on all four sides—the world’s first indication of the value of hospitality.

During the ceremony, no chairs or other furnishings are placed under the Chuppa to indicate that more important than possessions, are the people who live inside. This alone is the foundation of a Jewish home.

Historically, the Chuppa was a desirable object of art, which everyone sought to decorate but the today basic structure of the Chuppa, can be as decorative or as simple as the couple’s personality and style.

From rustic, minimal, contemporary to a NOLA Flair we design Chuppa’s to work cohesively with your Wedding Ceremony’s Decor.
